Fécamp was liberated by 47 RM Commando on 2nd September 1944. Since the end of the Second World War the people of Fécamp have never forgotten the courage, determination and self sacrifice of their liberators. Each time on their return to the town, veterans were enthusiastically welcomed by dignitaries and townsfolk. That bond of friendship and mutual respect, now extended to veterans’ families and friends, continues to the present day.
