Sgt. Albert Thompson from Newton Heath, Manchester joined the Royal Marines 20/03/1941. On the 6th of May 1941 he went to Royal Marines Brigade and on the 1st of August 1943 he joined 47 RM Commando. He was involved in the Normandy landings, the liberation of Port-en-Bessin and the assault on Walcheren. On the 11th of December 1945 he was transferred to 33 RM Batallion and on the 8th of January 1946 he went to Plymouth Division until released in Class 'A' on the 16th of March 1946.
