Robert Lines served as Home Based Ledger in the 1st Royal Marines Group Mobile Naval Base Defence Organisation until the 10th of May 1944 and the following day went into Royal Marines Training Group until the 11th of July 1944. He joined 47 RM Commando on the 12th of July 1944 and stayed with the Commando until the 2nd of December 1945 when he was transferred to 33 RM Batallion. On the 15th of January 1946 he went to Portsmouth Division and on the 5th of April 1946 was released in Class 'A'. Mne. Lines was wounded on Walcheren 2 November 1944.
